To God Be the Glory!

interior

St Matthew's Church, the largest Anglican Church in the Albury Parish of the Diocese of Wangaratta, is situated in the heart of the city, in Kiewa Street next to the Post office. The cross atop the steeple, placed following the devastating fire of September 1991 represents the highest point in the central business district of the City of Albury.

Many locals and visitors, Anglicans and non-Anglicans alike comment on the beauty, atmosphere and location of this magnificent church building. Along with its physical presence goes a history of a tradition of fine liturgy celebrated with dignity, and a standard of choral music rarely found outside of the capital cities of this country.

Whilst that is so, all of it remains a means to an end!

A cursory walk through this website will testify to a busy and complex parish community. A community of faith involved in many and varied worthwhile activities that must never lose sight of its principle aim and purpose - To know Christ and to make Christ known.

Whether you are a St Matthew's parishioner or a visitor you are very welcome. We encourage you to review the current and past events that make this parish what it is today under God. Please contact us with positive suggestions and ideas as to how we might do things better for the sake of the kingdom.

God bless you all.
