St Matthew's has a full ring of eight bells, and an enthusiastic group of ringers. Bell ringing attracts people of all ages and from all walks of life. Whilst it is not strenuous, it does provide good exercise for both body and mind.
The ringers are members of an Australasian group which enables them to ring at any of about 40 towers in Australia. We are fortunate to have a good group who enjoy the fellowship of each other's company whilst participating in this old English art.
Practice is on Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm. We ring following the 8:30 am service on Sundays, for some weddings, and also on special occasions throughout the year. Visitors are invited to come up to the tower to watch at any time. New members are always welcome - training is provided. Contact Mr Ross Altass on 0260 251909. Top

The serving team at St Matthews forms an integral part of the traditional worship in the parish. As well as assisting with the preparations and carrying out the liturgy at our regular Sunday services, we also play a vital role in the celebrations of the major festivals of the Christian year.
Being involved in the serving team is a great way to take an active part in the services and to learn about the traditions, symbols and liturgy of the church. Both children and adults are welcome to join. They will be given training and placed on a roster to suit them. Please contact Robert Ballard on 0260 414375. Top
