St Matthew's Baptism Bookings

Congratulations and thank you for your inquiry regarding Baptism or Christening at St Matthew's. Under normal circumstances the Service of Baptism is conducted at 11.30am on the second or fourth Sunday of each month.

By deciding to have your child baptised, you have made one of the most important decisions you will ever make as parents, a decision that will transform the life of your child for time and for eternity.

God has given to you the joy, the privilege and the responsibility of parenthood. Now he invites you to bring this child, whom he loved and knew from the moment of its conception, to be reborn into his church through water and the Holy Spirit.

In the Order of Service found in our prayer book (A Prayer Book for Australia) it states of children:

Children are baptised in response to God's all-embracing love. Parents and godparents who have responded to that love come now to bring their children for baptism. Before this congregation they must express their own trust and commitment to the promises of God, and their intention to bring up their children in the faith and practice of the Church. In due time these children should make their own response to God, and be prepared for confirmation. [pg. 73 APBA]

If this is your first child presenting for Baptism then we require you and, if possible, your child's godparents to attend a Baptism Seminar. These are conducted every first Tuesday of the month @ 7.00pm. At this seminar, in addition to a general presentation regarding the nature of Baptism and a walk through the service we also answer any questions that you might have.

You can register your interest in Baptism on this web site but that will then need to be confirmed with our Parish Office.
